Dominick Williams...
makes photographs because he likes to create art for people to look at. It sounds simple but before he was a photographer, he was a fine artist.
"With fine art, it's all about bringing to reality a vision that is in your head."
- Dominick
Photography created this new outlet for him to create exactly what he sees in his head. He has been hooked ever since. He's inspired by everything he sees from the cloud formations above his head to the cracked pavement underneath his feet. His art represents how he sees the world, and shows the relationship that briefly develops between shooter and sitter. The thing that he feels is special about how he creates his work is that exact relationship that he is able to forge between himself and the person he's shooting, building a comfort level in spaces that most don't find comfort in, specifically urban environments. Being raised "on the other side of the tracks" has given Dom a certain level of confidence when working in these environments, thus giving his subject a level of comfort in these scenarios and also giving his images the proper "grit" factor, making them stand apart from others that create similar work. Photography is a vital part of Dom's life. With it, he found what he was always looking to do, and that is show his unique vision of the world around him. The feeling he gets when he shoots will continue to drive him to create photographs until he can no longer see.
