I'm giving credit to Facebook Moments for this post. I saw an image from my Instagram account that reminded me I have more images from this night that was memorable for me. Two years ago today our family was doing laundry in LA. Today we still pursue a passion that goes beyond the smell of fresh linens.
We didn't have any laundry detergent with us at the time, but thankfully there was a little convenient store near by. They only had two options for detergent: a one load packet, or a small sized bottle for around $8. With a week worth of clothing, it seemed better to go with the bottle, which we left behind because people freak out when you travel with more than three fluid ounces.
It was around 10 or 11 PM and about closing time, so there weren't too many people in there. Even though we were doing wash there just one night, it felt like being a part of the community - a local. Maybe it's because it was just us and a few others trying to get laundry done before the end of the day. Maybe it's just because we just needed our clothes clean.
Perhaps it was because we were just making the boldest step we've ever taken together as a family by giving up our regular jobs and steady routine.
There was a lot more going on than just laundry that night...
